1. What is a forklift black box?

The forklift black box, also commonly known as the control unit (ECU) black box or  powertrain control module (PCM), is a type of electronic control block that is responsible for controlling the system, operating on internal combustion engine, electric motor to always ensure the engine operates optimally.
It does so by reading values ​​from sensors mounted on the forklift system. Before the black box ECU controller, the air-fuel mixture, ignition timing and idle speed were mechanically set and dynamically controlled by mechanical and pneumatic means.

If the black box ECU has control over the fuel lines, it is called an electronic engine management system (EEMS). This system has the role of controlling the amount of fuel injected and supplied to the engine. It is controlled by a series of sensors and actuators of the forklift.

2. Black box structure

The forklift black box system (ECU) consists of three main parts: RAM (Random Access Memory), ROM (Read Only Memory), PROM (Programmable Read Only Memory).

• Ability to recognize and remember system errors.
• Provide signals and information about the forklift and force the engine to operate according to pre-programmed settings such as: speed control, reporting errors during engine operation.

• The forklift does not work (Cannot move, cannot lift): Check if the ECU shows any errors, then check if the jack wires connecting the ECU to the control arm on the operating platform are plugged in. correct and guaranteed not to break.
• Check what error the forklift control arm shows to fix the problem: The most common error is caused by the control arm on the operating floor of the forklift. It could be that the circuit board inside the control arm is damaged and error 02 is displayed on the ECU.
